Slayers are a faction tasked with killing Demons and doing other missions regarding Demons and saving other Slayer NPCs.
The only way to become a human is to defeat the Tutorial Demon at the beginning of the game. In order to become a Slayer, you must complete the Final Selection, located in the Sakura Passage. Upon completion, you will spawn in the Slayer Corps Tavern and your character will now be wearing a Slayer uniform. You also gain a Kasugai Crow that will give you missions, a free 1,000 Yen, and you'll also be given 20 Sun Ore, which you can use to forge your very own Nichirin Sword at Jako, the Slayer Corps' blacksmith. (Certain breathing styles such as Beast Breathing or Sound Breathing have their own Nichirin that take priority over crafted ones.)
Note: It is recommended to get a Breathing Style before doing Final Selection as it allows you to kill demons faster.
Pros[]
- Can learn Breathing Styles.
- Can walk anywhere. (Just a quick flex to the demons.)
- Access to Sun Breathing at prestige 1 and higher.
- Access to the Slayer Mark at prestige 1 and higher.
- Access to Total Concentration Breathing by using a Boulder or Clay Gourds.
- Grinding levels and Yen can be fast if you keep doing crow missions.
Cons[]
- Hybrids — Slayers that have turned into Demons and maintained their Breathing Style — can be difficult to defeat due to the fact that they have access to the Demon Skill Tree, giving them 40 more HP and 50 more stamina.
- The Slayer Skill Tree can be expensive and requires a lot of skill points to max out.
- Slayer NPCs will begin to attack you if you use a form of your Breathing Style, and this can impede on your Save the Village quests.
Note: Slayers have their own storyline completely different from the Demon storyline.
Trivia[]
- Final Selection has to be beaten within 45 minutes, or else you will fail automatically.
- Delivery missions (only available for slayers level 15 and under) along with Save the Village missions are the best quests if you want to grind fast.
- Total Concentration Breathing, otherwise known as Breathing level 10, is crucial in both PvP and PvE. It is recommended to acquire this soon after completing Final Selection.
- Mastering everything under the Slayer Skill Tree should be a Slayers' top priority.
- Your Nichirin Sword will have different traits depending on which one you have (i.e. Love Breathing's Whip has increased range and Stone Breathing's Flail and Axe have significantly increased stun on hit.)
