Serpent Breathing emphasizes on slow forward slashes, and it requires 12 skill points to complete the skill tree. For a Serpent Breathing with STW and Kendo Mastery, you'll be requiring 68 skill points to fully complete it all.
Tasks
It's pretty much similar to Mitsuri's tasks, but I'll put it here nonetheless in case you guys need a refresher.
- First Task: Defeat the Ax Demon and obtain its collar.
- Second Task: Pay Iguro 20K Yen.

- First Form: Winding Serpent (
壱 ノ型 委 蛇 Ichi no kata: Ida?) - The user unleashes three forward slashes similar to Sun Breathing's Dance of the Fire God, then followed up by a rotating slash that seems to launch the foe away, dealing a larger damage than the first three strikes.
Deals around 20 damage on the first hits, the last one might be 30-40. [Blockable] [Hyperarmor]
- Second Form: Venom Fangs (
弐 ノ型 毒 牙 Ni no kata: Dokuga?) - The user enters a stance that lasts for 3 seconds, if hit while in the stance, the user counterattacks with a barrage of slashes from multiple directions.
Deals around 30 damage. [Counter]
- Third Form: Coil Choke (
参 ノ型 塒 締 め San no kata: Toguro Jime?) - The user slashes their opponent, summoning a giant snake that constricts the target for seven seconds, dealing damage as well as temporarily disabling their movements, making it a perfect combo extender.
Deals around 20 damage. [Constrict/Bind]
- Fourth Form: Twin-Headed Reptile (
肆 ノ型 頸 蛇 双 生 Shi no kata: Keija Sōsei?) - The user rushes forwards and releases a singular slash, it can be used as a combo starter.
Deals 30-40 damage. [Blockable]
- Fifth Form: Slithering Serpent (
伍 ノ型 蜿 蜿 長 蛇 Go no kata: En'en Chōda?) - After a short cast delay, the user dashes forward at blinding speeds to deliver powerful slash that could potentially end the enemy's life if their health is in critical condition, almost like Thunder Breathing's Thunderclap and Flash.

- Lunge + M1x3 (4) 1st Form: Winding Serpent (attempt to hit as many hits as possible) + Rush + M1x3 (4) + 3rd Form: Coil Choke + M1x3(4) + (Shotgun/5th Form: Slithering Serpent but will require to breathe when using 3rd Form/or just add a final M1)
- 4th Form: Twin Headed Reptile/2nd Form: Venom Fangs + M1x3 (4) + 3rd Form: Coil Choke + M1x3 (4) 5th Form: Slithering Serpent/Shotgun (Keep in mind that Serpent breathing combos are hard to preform as most moves require alot of the breathing bar and are difficult to land)
- Lunge + M1x3(4) 3rd Form: Coil Choke + (attempt to make your breathing bar full) + M1x3(4) M2 + 4th Form: Twin-Headed Reptile M1x4 + 5th Form Slithering Serpent (It deals around 175-205 dmg if you land ALL your hits, keep in mind that hitting the fourth form is a little hard to land and you cant combo extend with it)

- Has a constrict ability, which can be used to stun people and stop them from moving

- First Form may be a bit difficult to land its hits
- The counter could be a let-down if used too early
- Twin-Headed Reptile doesn't do much
Trivia
- Obanai has a crush on Mitsuri, so it would make sense for him to be on the other side of Mitsuri and to have the same requirements.
- As evident from Obanai's dialogue, Mitsuri needs something and that is the SAME requirements that she needs for Love Breathing, and he is willing to give that to her.
- Serpent Breathing is a derivative of Water Breathing.
- Its skill tree resembles Mist Breathing's skill tree.
- Serpent Nichirin can be crafted from Slayer Corps like a normal Custom Nichirin instead of obtaining it after learning the breathing.
- Serpent Breathing heavily relies on the default fighting style, meaning that Kendo Agility II and Kendo Mastery does affect the breathing.
- Despite the hype, the breathing style was deemed as a "disappointment" to the community as it feels like it was "rushed".
- There's a bug where if the player drank Breath Indict after getting Serpent Breathing, the game doesn't let them re-obtain it anymore.
