Mist Trainer Tokito

Muichiro as seen in-game

"Remember that boiling anger. [...] Even if I lose my memories, my body will remember that anger that will not leave me until I die. It's why I trained so hard that I vomited blood to destroy demons. And more... to eradicate them!"

-Muichiro Tokito

Info

Mist Breathing ( (かすみ) () (きゅう) Kasumi no kokyū?) is a breathing style you can learn in in Demonfall.

To learn Mist Breathing, first find the Mist Trainer, Tokito, in the Frosty Forest. To find him, follow the path back towards the starting area until you see the shape of a giant tree. Walk to the right side of it and follow a straight line until you see a rock ledge. From there, go North-West until you run into a rock with some snow falling off the side of it. Go around, and you should find Muichiro near a tent.

Mist focuses on making quick attacks then quickly fading away, which is why this breathing has 1 I-frame move and 1 teleporting move. This is one of the best breathings for combos and has had frequent nerfs due to how good the combos can be.

If you have the Tokito clan/family, you get : 10% XP boost and a special Mist breathing move called Mist Breathing: Seventh Form, Obscuring Clouds.

Obtaining the Breathing

First Task: After talking to him, pay him 2,000 Yen.

Second Task: Enter a maze where you must find Tokito (no time limit).

    The Mist Breathing Skill Tree

  • Second Form: Eight-Layered Mist ( () (かた) () () (かすみ) Ni no kata: Yaekasumi?) - The user unleashes eight close range slashes, almost a barrage, all in a quick succession. This move is a good combo extender.

Uses 20% breath bar and deals 20 damage with a 30 second cooldown. [Blockable]

  • Third Form: Scattering Mist Splash ( (さん) (かた) () (さん) () (ぶき) San no kata: Kasan no Shibuki?) - The user becomes one with the mist, causing them to be untouchable for a few seconds and it can be used at any time. The user also leaves behind afterimages that disappear after in their trail. This move is very useful for escaping combos.

Uses 15% breath bar and has a cooldown of 35 seconds. [I-frames]

Fourth Form: Shifting Flow Slash ( () (かた) () (りゅう) () Shi no kata: Iryūgiri?) - The user quickly unsheathes their blade and strikes their enemy, reminiscent of a Iaidō technique; The move looks like the Second Form's 8 slashes, except they're all spaced out as you dash forward.

Uses 60% breath bar and deals 35 damage if hit at short range, 25 damage if medium range. It has a 40 second cooldown. [Blockable]

  • Fifth Form: Sea of Clouds and Haze ( () (かた) () (うん) (うみ) Go no kata: Kaun no Umi?) - The user teleports behind the enemy if in range. Can be used to teleport through walls as long as a player is on the other side/in range of the move.

Uses 60% breath bar and has a cooldown of 75 seconds.

  • Sixth Form: Judgement Cut ( (ろく) (かた) (きり) (ばつ) (やいば) Roku no kata: Kiribatsu no Yaiba?, lit. Sixth Form: Blade of Mist Retribution) - The user shifts backward and sheathes their blade back, and releases a barrage of slashes that takes the form of a misty orb, pushing and damaging the opponent simultaneously. This move can be cancelled if hit while in the cast time. If the enemy is not in range, nothing will happen. This move is a great way to push your opponent back and as a combo extender as well.

Uses 50-60% breath bar and deals 25 damage with a 60 second cooldown. Has a range of about 40 studs. [Blockable] Note: You must be aiming towards your target for it to work.

  • Seventh Form: Obscuring Clouds ( (しち) (かた) (おぼろ) Shichi no kata: Oboro?) - The personal creation of Muichiro Tokito. The user envelops the environment with a cloak of mist in a wide range, and creates afterimages of themselves as if they're moving at an inhuman speed and delivers a slash to anyone within the fog. You can only get this skill automatically when you learn Mist Breathing as a Tokito Clan member. It can also be used as a combo escaper and a counter at the same time.

Uses 80% breath bar and deals 30 damage with a 55 second cooldown. [Blockable] [AOE] [I-frames] Note: this move hits every enemy within the range of about 50-75 studs.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Move-set is extremely good for combos
  • It's extremely hard to escape a combo if the user is unexperienced
  • Third Form and Seventh Form are really good for escaping combos
  • Tokito family is not required to make the user with Mist Breathing do combos, as the last move doesn't deal a lot of damage.
  • Move-set is very versatile in terms of mobility or defense.
  • Third form and seventh form negates fall damage if you activate it when hitting the ground.
  • Seventh form can be used as a second iframe.
  • Seventh form has hyper armor
  • M1 stuns are useful since they slow down your enemy walkspeed for a moment, which could open up a chance to keep up the combo incase your opponent escaped it or countered. This passive counters Iguro's annoying walkspeed perk that allows them to escape combos
  • Having such a low iframe cd
  • Second Form can be used as counter

Cons

  • Not a lot of range
  • Produces a lot of mist, which can make it hard to see your opponent.(Your opponent may see you clearly with low graphics level)
  • Seventh Form doesn't do a lot of damage.
  • Fifth Form has low range and high cooldown.
  • Requires mostly M1s to start off combos.
  • Iframe trail might make you stuck if you are standing still.
  • Sometimes players are able to dash away when you use fifth form and go behind them.
  • Only has 1 guard breaker.
  • Sixth form pushes the enemy away causing you need to chase the opponent.
  • Fifth form makes opponent easy to predict so you can get in a combo.
  • Gets a lot of nerfs.
  • You must unlock all forms in order. (That means you cant have the move you want)
  • Fifth Form only make you get hit by npc or enemy can easily run away
  • Using Fifth Form is very predictable and you can be hit by your enemy
  • Even if there is no target within range, using Fifth form still consumes breath bar.

Trivia

  • NPCs will not attack the afterimages
  • You can get Zenitsu and Kaigaku to waste their thunderclap with Third Form
