Who is Kaigaku?[]

Kaigaku is the Replacement Upper Moon 6, a Demon Boss capable of using both Breathing and BDA skills in Demonfall. He behaves very similar to a Slayer Boss, Zenitsu, since in canon, both were trained by the same master. Kaigaku's damage is significantly higher than Zenitsu's damage so ensure that you have good health and fight Kaigaku as a whole server or squad instead of just yourself. Kaigaku has more HP and lower cooldowns compared to Zenitsu.

Kaigaku can spawn randomly in Hayakawa and Okuyia between 30 minutes - 2 hours. Players everywhere around the map will be notified when Kaigaku spawns as well as their distance relative to his.

The notification is a grey box, with "Kaigaku is attacking (Okuiya or Hayakawa) Village."

If you have your spawn set here, be aware that you may spawn while he is there, or you may die and go back while he is there. The starter village for slayers is also Hayakawa, so if you don't have your spawn set you will respawn there (when you first enter the game after becoming a slayer you will also have to go to Hayakawa to start the storyline).

Tips[]

Avoid having high exp while killing Kaigaku. If you die, you may lose 25% of your exp.
Kaigaku is very erratic and hard to combo, so wait on a roof until he uses six roku to combo him.
Keep a good amount of food (reccomend Meat or supreme meat) to keep regenerating health.
Stay within 300 studs of Kaigaku to gain EXP. Inexperienced players are recommended not to participate in the fight.
If you plan to engage him head-on, be mindful for his Six Roku, which is inescapable but blockable.
Kaigaku's Six Roku has 300-stud range, and can be detected early by its charge-up sound. The move seeks the closest target when its initiated and the target cannot escape. The best way to deal with Six Roku is by blocking, and you should block at every Six Roku just in case. You can also use an I-frames move to avoid being targeted but its not recommended.
Stay at good amount of HP so you don't die easily, and retreat to a safe distance (300 studs from Kaigaku) when you are very low to recover.
Have Total Concentration Constant and a breathing style.
Defeat him as a large group.
Wait for each person to do their combo then you do yours. (If this is properly done on Kaigaku, players won't take severe damage from each other's moves and combos)
If you get yourself inside a combo of another person, use your i-frames moves. If you don't have one then try to jump and dash out of it to prevent yourself from getting killed and then executed by Kaigaku.
Moon Breathing is recommended for defeating Kaigaku but takes the risk of hitting others since most of the moves have wide and long ranges. Note that this breathing may frustrate someone, making them attack you so you will have to take the risk.
Breathing Styles having I-frames move like Mist, Sun, etc. Is recommended if you cannot block but you can quickly use I-frames move to prevent losing 100 HP from Sixfold.
You can try an infinite combo with another person with kaigaku and other bosses by performing M1 for 3 times (4 with Kendo Mastery), then the other person do so, then repeat this process. (This is not reliable as Kaigaku can do a grab and mess up the infinite combo but this does a lot of damage)
If Kaigaku is in Okuyia, you can glitch him into the stairs in front of the Inn using his Thunder Swarm or Six Roku. Use M1 combos, barrage, and ranged attacks to deal damage while he's fixed in place. Don't use moves with high knockback, such as Rising Scorching Sun, as that can free him. (This tactic can be difficult with uncooperating players and/or in laggy servers)
Moves with a large AOE like Rengoku or Purifying Wind should be used with caution and when Kaigaku is not being comboed, as it can hit nearby players and badly damage your reputation.
Trapping Kaigaku in the Inn is a good solo tactic. Keep your back against the opposite wall so you are out of range of his Rice Spirit and the door to your room open. This will allow quick access when he uses Limitless Regeneration.
You can go to the help section in the Demonfall Community Discord and search/ask help for farming Kaigaku. This usually helps for going up to max level.

In canon, Kaigaku CAN'T use Thunderclap & Flash or Sixfold (Six Roku) as he was never able to learn Thunderclap & Flash (Sixfold is a version of it). Instead, he knows Rice Spirit, Thunder Swarm, Distant Thunder, Heat Lightning and Rumble and Flash, the rest of the canon Thunder Breathing forms.
Kaigaku is sometimes referred as " The Black/Dark Zenitsu"
Avoid meditating right after his death, though it's a popular thing, players may start battles between each other and you can get caught in one.
