Shinobu-Insect breathing trainer

Insect Breathing ( (むし) () (きゅう) Mushi no kokyū?) is a breathing technique in Demonfall.

To learn Insect Breathing, you must first find the Insect Trainer Shinobu at the Demon Slayer Corps. She can be found sitting on the roof of the tavern. After you learn Insect Breathing, you will get a special sword, exclusive to Insect Breathing users.

The sword has a red and green hilt, with a flower-like handguard. This sword overrides any Nichirin you currently have. With this sword, you will also do different m1 and m2 animations. The m1 combo is a 6-hit combo, as the 3 quick attacks count. These animations look like quick, stab-like attacks. Kendo Mastery does not change these animations, nor give another M1 hit. There are currently only 4 moves for the Insect Breathing Style. The Kocho family does not provide any sort of buff to the breathing.

You automatically get 6 M1s after learning the Breathing and getting the sword, with or without Kendo Mastery.

Insect Breathing's Sword m1s are faster then a regular Nichirin blade.

Obtaining the Breathing

First Task: Pay the Trainer 10,000 yen

Note: When you buy the Breathing Style from Shinobu for 10,000, it comes with the sword automatically.

Breathing Moves

The Insect Breathing skill tree.

The Insect Breathing skill tree.

  • Passive - Inflicts poison damage. (Stackable; 2.25 dmg per tick)

A full M1 Combo deals XX damage including the poison.

  • First Form: Dance of the Butterfly ( (いち) (かた) (ちょう) (まい) Ichi no kata: Chō no Mai?) - The user leaps up, over, and behind the opponent before diving and stabbing them. This has a sort of lock on/auto aim when you use this move. This move leaves a trail of butterflies. This move can be avoided by dashing.

Deals 25 damage with a 25 second cooldown and takes 30% of your breath bar. [Blockable]

  • Second Form: Dance of the Dragonfly ( () (かた) (せい) (れい) (まい) Ni no kata: Seirei no Mai?) - The user does a flurry of stabs at the opponent. This move is similar to Mist Breathing's Second Form and Explosive Flurry from the Shockwave Art. This move is blockable. This move knocks back the opponent slightly. Can be used as a M1 combo extender.

Deals 20 damage with a 35 second cooldown and takes 30% of your breath bar. [Blockable]

  • Fourth Form: Dance of the Centipede ( () (かた) () (こう) (まい) Shi no kata: Gokō no Mai?) - The user disappears and becomes invisible, leaving a trail of butterflies in their path. This move is similar to Mist Breathing's Third Form. This move provides iframes for the user, you should always use iframes if you are stuck in an infinite combo or combos that deal lots of damage. The user cannot use moves while this move is active.

Takes 20% of your breath bar and it has a 50 second cooldown. [I-frames]

  • Sixth Form: Dance of the Spider ( (ろく) (かた) 蜘蛛 (クモ) (まい) Roku no kata: Kumo no Mai?) - The user dashes backwards before leaping forward and stabbing the opponent, resembling a smashing effect in front of the user. This move sort of resembles Shockwave Art's downsmash move but is aimed in front of the user. This move leaves a trail of butterflies.

Deals 20 damage with a 35 second cooldown and takes 30% of your breathing bar. [Guard Break]

Trivia

  • All of Insect Breathing's techniques/skills are not labelled as a "Form" in the original source, rather they are labelled as a "Dance" instead.
  • Fourth Form shares no resemblance to its original counterpart in the source material whatsoever. In the original, Dance of the Centipede is more of a copy of First Form: Six Roku, considering that Shinobu dashes towards Douma in a zig-zag pattern before stabbing him, similar to how Six Roku does.
  • In the original, Dance of the Firefly is actually the third form of Insect Breathing, not second. As the second form is Dance of the Bee Sting, which is another Insect Breathing form that is not present in the game.
  • Dance of the Spider is not an actual technique in the source material, this is a fanmade form made by Arrox and his team.
    • Furthermore, Dance of the Spider is labelled as the sixth form of the breathing style, meaning that Insect Breathing was supposed to have six techniques instead of four. The reason to the sudden reduction of the techniques, is unknown.
  • Both Insect and Beast share the same M2 animation, which is a kick.
    • Coincidentally, both Insect & Beast both have four forms and are both self-taught by their respective creators.
