I abandoned my humanity. I cut down my descendants and abandoned being a samurai. But even all that wasn't enough?

Kokushibo, speaking to his long-deceased brother, Yoriichi Tsugikuni.

Hybrids are Demons that were previously Demon Slayers. They keep the Breathing Style they used before abandoning their humanity.

Obtaining Hybrid[]

To become a Hybrid, you must be Level 50 or higher, have 5 vials of Muzan's Blood, and any obtainable Breathing Style that is not Sun Breathing. Next, you will have to find Kokushibo, who can be found atop a mountain in the Frosty Forest next to a large Moai figure near the Green Demon cave. If you choose to become a Hybrid, you will be required to pay the 5 vials of Muzan's Blood. Your level will be set to level 25, no matter what level you are. Your skill tree will be reset and your points reimbursed, and you will have a Demon Appearance when you end up dying, rejoining, or respawning.

When you become a Hybrid with Thunder Breathing, Flame Breathing or Water Breathing, they will develop into Dark Thunder, Blue Flame and Crimson Water. This change is purely cosmetic.

Pros & Cons[]

Pros[]

  • Access to the Demon Skill Tree, which can gain 40 extra HP and 50 more stamina compared to a Slayer.
  • The Kendo Skill Tree is cheaper, going from 21 SP to 13.
  • Still able to learn Breathing Styles, except Wind Breathing.
  • Access to Moon Breathing, a Hybrid exclusive Breathing Style.
  • Allows you to feed on Players and NPCs to fill hunger bar like Demons.
  • Health regenerates at a speed the same as a Demon, with 1 HP added every 0.5 seconds the food bar is not empty.
  • Can now unlock Body Absorption from the Demon Skill Tree, which upgrades your regular execution, now healing your HP on kill along with filling your food bar.

Cons[]

  • Weak to Wisteria Trees, and unless you have the Kamado family, you will burn under sunlight.
  • Lose access to Slayer Marks.
  • Unable to learn/use Sun Breathing, even if you have the Kamado family. Additionally, Kamado users lose access to Dance of the Fire God upon becoming a Hybrid.
  • Unless you learn Wind Breathing before turning into a Hybrid, you are unable to obtain it afterward. Subsequently, there is no Hybrid variation of Wind Breathing.
  • Higher Skill Point cost than the Slayer Skill Tree.

Notes[]

  • It is advised to re-join the game upon becoming a Hybrid to avoid your stats not showing what they actually are.
  • You CAN NOT become a Hybrid as a demon, this feature is exclusively for players who start as Demon Slayers. As a result of this, you are unable to unlock the Demon Storyline, although you may still carry out Slayer Missions and complete the Slayer Storyline.
  • Hybrids are unable to obtain Blood Demon Arts and Fighting Styles.
  • Some players advise waiting until Prestige 10 to become a Hybrid as you will become a human when you Prestige, undoing the effort it took to become a Hybrid. However, many players still choose to become Hybrids and would rather use Prestige 10 to unlock Sun Breathing, which they could not do as a Hybrid.

Trivia[]

  • Hybrids can cross the barriers preventing a Slayer from crossing to and from the inside of a Demon Hideout. Hybrids can also set their spawn within these hideouts.
  • Hybrids can only eat Meat and Premium Meat. They cannot eat Soup or Bread, and will otherwise have to resort to either of the meats or eating another NPC or player.
  • You can drink a Breath Indict to change your Breathing Style or to reset skill points.
  • Hybrid reduces Kendo Mastery's cost to 3 points instead of 6, and all other upgrades in the Kendo Skill Tree will have their cost reduced by 1, excluding Lunge.
  • If you attempt to talk to Kokushibo utilizing Sun Breathing, he will instead ignore you, saying " "
  • Hybrids do not have their own unique Storyline. Instead, they will take the Slayers' Storyline. Due to this, Muzan and other Demon NPCs will treat you as a Human Demon Slayer (except for Kaigaku, as he has special dialogue for when you are a Hybrid with Thunder Breathing), reacting to all attempted dialogue with "..." except for Lucci for having her own unique dialogue for Humans. It is unknown if this will ever be rectified- whether Hybrids get their own storyline, continue to use the Slayer Storyline in its place, or are simply transitioned into the Demon Storyline at a later point.
  • Drinking a vial of Muzan's Blood as a hybrid will cause many problems to arise; you lose your Breathing Style, and you will become incapable of learning other styles. If you have a crafted Nichirin Sword, you would still be able to retain ownership of it. Breathing Style specific swords will be lost (i.e. the Dual Nichirins of Beast Breathing). To resolve this problem, drink a Breath Indict.
  • Hybrids may not buy or use Demon Clothes after joining the Slayer Corps. If bought beforehand, it will be lost after Final Selection. To bypass this, simply pass Final Selection before going Hybrid, as you will keep the crow, along with still being able to forge Nichirin Blades and interact with NPCs at the Slayer Corps HQ.
  • If you Prestige as a Hybrid, you will become a Human and have to talk to Kokushibo at level 50 with the 5 Muzan Bloods to become a Hybrid again.
